Project sourcing here means lining up comparable factory replies for a labeling machine manufacturer. Each bidder should state what the quote includes, which handling items sit outside an applicator head, and how front and back labels are registered on asymmetric containers when that layout is requested.
Service stage and responsibilities
| Decision point | Evidence or question |
|---|---|
| Supplier shortlist: Upstream | Collect container drawings or photos, label length and gap, winding direction, liner, adhesive, and whether the purchase is an OEM labeling head or a complete labeling machine with spacing, orientation and conveyor. If artwork is still moving, the RFQ should say placement is judged against a physical datum, not a marketing rendering. Throughput should be written as containers per hour on that sample, with reject rules, next to web speed in m/min. |
| Control boundary | Ask every labeling machine manufacturer bidder to list: base machine; first peel plate and drive; extra heads; printer; camera; controls cabinet; installation; training; spare parts; shipping terms. Items left blank are treated as excluded. FAT and SAT attendance are separate lines. Connected load, three-phase supply, compressed air demand, footprint and PLC interface belong in the same table. Front-and-back registration on oval or rectangular packs is a method, not a checkbox copied from another SKU. |
| Downstream | After replies arrive, we place included and excluded rows next to each other so a lower applicator price is not compared with a turnkey cell. Work envelope and encoder ownership still need supplier confirmation on the intended filler discharge. No percentage saving is published because this project has no matched total-cost evidence. Tooling, shipping, installation and commissioning remain named rows. |
