Integration Planning

front and back labeling machine

Resolve whether a front and back labeling machine is two registered heads on one frame, two sequential stations, or a wrap layout that only looks like front-and-back artwork. This dossier is an input checklist, not an engineering guarantee and not a compliance certificate.

Input checklist

  1. Input checklist: Upstream

Collect front and back artwork files, panel widths, taper, and whether the bottle is round, oval or rectangular. State which liner and adhesive will be used in the trial. If the two labels have different lengths, write both. Ask how bottle rotation is avoided or used; front-and-back on ovals usually needs orientation, not wrap-belt spin. Encoder source and container pitch belong in the same packet so both heads see the same product. Throughput should be containers per hour on those samples, next to each head’s web speed in m/min.

  2. Control boundary

Ask who owns registration: two applicators slaved to one encoder, or two independent recipes. Record the allowed offset from a physical datum on each panel after a stated delay. Connected load, three-phase supply, compressed air, footprint, PLC interface, tooling for both heads, FAT and SAT travel, and spare parts must appear as rows. A camera that checks both faces is a separate line. Applicator-only quotes that omit orientation equipment are incomplete for this decision.

  3. Downstream

Inspection, reject and accumulation after the second head change the SAT. If print-and-apply sits on one face, name which face and which print engine. Empty-reel restart should restore both recipes. Compare included handling, not brochure photos. See the applicator boundary article and catalog options.
